Hi,
At this moment, I would like to confirm if I was logged in as an Administrator, so that I can enjoy all the privileges and rights of being an Administrator of the computer.
Try changing the attributes of the folder by logging into the Default Admin Account.
To Enable the Default Admin Account
- Logon to Vista using your normal username and password.
- Click on the Start button
- Click on Start Search.
- Type, cmd. Right-click cmd, select 'Run as administrator' from the shortcut menu.
- In the black 'DOS box', type the following at the command line:
Net help user
The idea of the last command is just to observe the options for Net User.
In particular, examine the syntax to set the password.
The next instruction is the crucial command. I have chosen password = 12345678, you may want to choose different characters.
Net user administrator 12345678
Net user administrator /active: yes
- Check the message: The command completed successfully
- Switch User, or logoff
- Logon as Administrator Password 12345678 (Your password may be different!)
Also have a look at “Enable and Disable the Built-in Administrator Account”:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc766343(WS.10).aspx
Else, follow the KB article 326549 contains step-by-step instructions on how to use the Attrib command to work around the inability to view or to remove the Read-only or the System attributes of folders in Windows 7.
Let us know if that helps.

Going to the properties tab reveals that the folder is read only. I uncheck the box but can't seem to make it a permanent change.Read-only on a folder isn't like read-only on a file.
Unlike the Read-only attribute for a file, the Read-only attribute for a folder is typically ignored by Windows, Windows components and accessories, and other programs. For example, you can delete, rename, and change a folder with the Read-only attribute by using Windows Explorer.
Windows Explorer uses the Read-Only attribute to determine whether or not the folder is customized.
