my usb EMTEC pendrive is write protected

Hi braydenthomas,

Thank you for posting the query in Microsoft community forums.
I understand that usb EMTEC pendrive is write protected.
To help you with suggesting steps to resolve the issue, I would appreciate if you could answer the following questions:

1. What is the exact issue that you are facing on the computer?
2. Do you receive any error message?
3. Did you make any changes on the computer prior to the issue?

Write protection is a feature that can be found on many different types of media. When write protection is turned on, you will be able to view the information on the disk or USB drive, but you will not be able to write or transfer information to it. Write protection is a protective element that will prevent accidental deletion of important data.

If you want to remove the protection, you may try these suggestions provided:

Method 1:
I would suggest you to follow the steps and check if the issue persists.

a. Open 'My computer'.

b. Right click on USB drive and select 'properties'.

c. Uncheck the option 'Read only' if it is marked.

Note: Click on yes when the option pops up saying "Apply changes to subfolders and files writing to this folder"

d. Click on 'Apply' and 'Ok'.

e. Try to delete the files.

Method 2:
I would also suggest you to follow the steps to edit the registry to disable the write protected error and check if the issue persists.

You can remove write protection from your usb pendrive using the below method:
a. Open start menu and select run. On the runline, type
regedit and press enter. This wil open theregistry editor.
b. Navigate to the following path:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\StorageDevicePolicies
Note:

If the registry key StorageDevicePolicies does not exist, you will need to create it manually.
c. Double click the key
WriteProtect in the right window and set the value to 0 in the Value
Data Box and press OK button
d.
Restart your computer and try deleting the files from USB flash drives.
Note: Important this section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

If you are sure it is not software, you will need to do a "recovery" of a USB drive stuck in the write protect position (even if there is no physical switch):

Download UFIX2

Enjoy!

Still want to use this write protected pen drive?
Just remove the write-protection at first:

For EMTEC USB Flash

You can try restoring flash drive by using that "Restore" tool (backup data before):

http://www.emtec-international.com/sites/default/files/drivers/restore.zip

If it doesn't fix the issue, flash drive should be returned to the store where it has been purchased to get a replacement.

Process to restore:

1) Plug the flash drive (certify that only the EMTEC flash drive is plugged)

2) launch restore.exe

3) Press the button RESTORE

4) A warning message is displayed about erasing data. Press RESTORE to continue.

5) A confirmation message is displayed, then press the YES

6) A message RESTORING DEVICE ... appears. Do not unplug the flash drive and wait for the restoration (1 to 2 minutes).

Ufix-V will fix your usb, I've tried diskpart sollution, regedit sollution, but didn't help, untill I've found this app: https://www.techspot.com/downloads/6202-usb-flash-driver-format-tool.html download, extract and install. It's virus free.
