Error code 0x80070490 on updating apps from Windows Store on Windows 10.

Original Title: Need help trying to get apps to download updates, getting error code each time.

Every time i try to update my apps on the Windows 10 App store I get a error code 0x80070490 and each time it says on the file Try that again Error, see details.

Well I was going to do this but Windows 10 Media Creation Tool will not let me click on that option. It will only let me do a complete install erasing everything. Right now, the store doesn't open at all. There are Apps that have completely stopped working.

A friend told me that the best way to fix the problem with Windows is to get a MAC.  He maybe right.

Same problem here, it's apparently related to a broken Microsoft Visual C++ redist update that was issued a while back. This causes all Store apps dependant on that library to fail to update/install.

http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-windows_store/error-0x80070490-when-trying-to-installupgrade/48b0c253-83c3-439d-9f9a-3ec616da2306?tm=1457967516039

It's becoming apparent that Microsoft doesn't even bother testing their broken apps before pushing them to their customers. Last december I lost my calculator app when it suddenly stopped working and now none of my store apps are updating since the recent VC++ update screwed them.

The same Problem here - over 1 week no Update. Always get the Error code 0x80070490 on different Computers.

All the Tips (Store Fix / Update Fix) doesn't fix the Problem.

After SFC und DISM didn't Report an relevant Failure - I didn't want to reeinstall and excelent working System. [Never touch a running System ;-) ]

So I take a look in the LOGS (Event Viewer or so) found Warnings in the Microsoft.VCLibs.

Most of the (Universal)Apps Need Visual C and I remeber: there was an Security Update related to Visual C.

I try to go back to the date of the Update (system recovery) but to long ago.

I Installed the MS Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable - restart my Surface - and got 16 Updates from the Store without Error Code.

So if you got Error code 0x80070490 -Install the Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable - I try this on 4 different Computers and it still works.

Good Luck

It didn't work for me.

I am afraid, except of moving to another OS, the reinstalation of Win 10 remains last and only resort.

Anyway G v ZauberBerg, your post didn't bring any "hills of magic" but at least it was an a good advertisement of a new Distribution of Visual C++   ;-)

Seriously, this has gotten to be a complete joke.  For many months now there have been so many threads with this same issue and in every thread, the same textbook solutions are given by a Microsoft "Support Engineer" - and none of them work.  Then I read this non-solution of using the Feedback App in Windows 10 so that it will be considered and worked on.

Enough of this already.  This is a serious issue that needs to be fixed.  Many people are experiencing that their apps in the app store are not updating and they are getting an error code.  The error code is supposed to help diagnose and solve, but none of these "Support" engineers know how to resolve these codes.

It's absolutely silly - I have 22 apps that I cannot update and have not been able to for months.  Microsoft doesn't seem to take this issue seriously and hopefully none of these apps that I have not updated yet is a security risk that I have not been able to patch since the app won't update.  Because of this, I am reluctant to install anything else from the app store.

Can you please offer some real help for us??
