Windows update 2004

Since updating yesterday to Version 2004 the network (wifi) icon in the system tray is not showing the correct icon and is indicating connected to my correct broadband but with no internet. The issue here is that I am connected to the internet so why is it giving me this problem.

Ive tried rebooting my router, checked the network adaptors and even done a reset and reboot but still nothing has changed.

Anyone have a simple solution to this or is it just another Microsoft error to be rectified in due course?

Thanks

M. perry

I'm Jan an Advisor and a Microsoft user like you. I want to apologize if you encountered this issue. I understand you have a problem with your computer not working properly.

Please try running these network commands to manually reset the TCP/IP stack

Open Command Prompt then Run as Administrator.
Type in each code then hit Enter

netsh winsock reset
netsh int ip reset
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
ipconfig /flushdns

Kind regards,
Jan

Thanks.

Do I have to restart after entering each code where it says to do so or can I enter all codes before restarting?

Ok Did that but still have the wrong icon in the system tray.

Also noticed my Outlook account will not sync on my PC so having to do this by logging into Microsoft on an Android tablet.

Ni idea what's wrong.

Hi MPerry48,

Please do these scans to fix those corrupted files. Open "Command Prompt" as an administrator then type.

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

Important: When you run this command, DISM uses Windows Update to provide the files that are required to fix corruption. However, if your Windows Update client is already broken, use a running Windows installation as the repair source, or use a Windows side-by-side folder from a network share or from a removable media, such as the Windows DVD, as the source of the files. To do this, run the following command instead:

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:C:\RepairSource\Windows /LimitAccess

Note Replace the C:\RepairSource\Windows placeholder with the location of your repair source. For more information about using the DISM tool to repair Windows,

You can also do this to repair damaged files

Open Command prompt as an administrator
then type in

sfc /scannow

then restart once done

Thanks for that.

Done all as you said and hasn't made the slightest bit of difference to my issue.

The system tray network remains the same - see images attached.

My internet connection is working!

Also unable to use the Mail app for Outlook as when I open it it says there is a problem with my account! If I click on Fix It I get an error message telling me I have no internet connection - but I do - see image attached. So now my Mail app wont sync and I have to open a browser and log in to see up to date emails. This is ridiculous and I can't find a fix.

Should I just uninstall Version 2004 Update and wait until Microsoft is able to make a more fault free version?

Even I'm facing this issue after this update. The issue resolves itself without doing anything but it re-occurs. The issue was fixed by itself for me twice but I'm facing it again. I am not able to access any windows store app which requires internet connection. Even the windows store gives no internet connection issue whereas I'm connected to it and using it everywhere else. It's so irritating now I can't even go back to previous version and I've tried every fix possible but none of it works. Waiting for Microsoft to fix it now.
