only stereo - Dell 7577 and Denon x3200w no passthrough/bitstream

Hello,

I have notebook Dell 7577 connected via HDMI to avr Denon x3200w. Until an approx. month ago (cannot exactly specify the date maybe two months) I was using this setup for DTS, Dolby Atmos, 7.0 etc setup (passthrough/bitstream) sound from notebook to avr. I was able to specify dolby atmos for home theater in windows sound settings. Now I have my denon marked only as digital output without posibility to change output from stereo (in windows sound settings) to other like 5.1 7.1 or dolby atmos for home theater, and when I try to use bitstream/passthrough in media player classic or kodi I have no sound at all.

Same story on my other pc which works fine until approx same day.

kodi with setup which worked before and now outputting no sound at all (digital output was named denon before so I assume that it cannot correctly detect the device but do not know why?), only without passthrough I have sound but only stereo

I try to

disable all enhancements
Set advanced to 24bit, 96kHz

reinstall realtek drivers from dell for my 7577
tried to updated drivers for all sound devices

reinstall nvidia drivers
install nvidia drivers from beginning of the year (no change)
install back actual nvidia drivers
Yes I have source video files which support surround sound and It previously worked fine
No change in wiring
avr surround works fine from other sources
No I dont want to use any additional sound card or other wiring method
I tested everything with multiple HDMI cabels and with different avr inputs

mpc setting which I have not tested before:

Please help

Hello WalkerCZ,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

  1. Have you made any changes on your PC prior to this issue?
  2. Which edition and version of Windows are you currently using? Refer the following article to find the edition and version of Windows.

I suggest you update Windows if any updates are available. Refer the following link for steps to update Windows.

Step 1: Check for updates which were installed when the issue occurred. To do that, you may go to Settings > Update & Security > Select View Update history > You get list of updates which has got installed on your computer with the dates. You may remove that particular update which might be causing the issue.

Step 2: Check for services.

Go to Search window and type Services > Locate to Windows Audio and Windows Audio Endpoint Builder service > Right click on the service and select Start.

Step 3: System Restore.

This option takes your PC back to an earlier point in time, called a system restore point. Restore points are generated when you install a new app or driver, and when you create a restore point manually. Restoring won’t affect your personal files, but it will remove apps, drivers, and updates installed after the restore point was made.

You may go through the article for more information regarding System Restore

Hope it helps.

Hello,

no change in hw, just auto update of windows, drivers and nvidia drivers (I tried to install older nvidia driver with custom installation and clean install checked and tried to install older intel chipset drivers no change).

os: win 10 pro
ver: 1803
build: 17134.407

second pc only windows and nvidia drivers auto update.

Tried to reflash avr with older fw. No change.

Tried to change the port on avr. No change.

Tried to change the HDMI cable. No change.

Tried to change the HDMI cable to different manufacturer. No change.

Tried different HTPC with atom and amd graphic and everything works as expected (DTS HD ..) so the problem is probably in the combination of intel processor and nvidia graphic card and some drivers.

Tried older nvidia shield device and get multi channel in 7.1 so half way there. I do not have much experience with this device so I am not able to tell if it is capable of DTS. It is an older model of nvidia shield.

Tried to use chromecast and get dolby digital so half way there.

Tried to install lav filters on affected pc .. output is showing multiple channel output no dts so half way there but it outputs only stereo on avr (avr showing stereo pcm dig).

services already running
I probably try to reinstall the pc (last install on 17-oct-18). But I am afraid that the affected drivers was downloaded by windows update or it is the combination of win update and nvidia drivers.. and i have the same problem on other pc which is connected to internet only once in a while and did not have any special drivers or software installed..
