It doesn't seem to drop if I don't use the internet. But as soon as I do anything I might get a few pages open but then they all stop and the network adapter has the yellow triangle with the ! in it and it says "no internet access." This is on a Dell with
a wired Ethernet connection using a Broadcom networking card dev_1692. Currently I have driver 15.6.1.2 which is dated January 29, 2013. I'm confused about that because when I look at Broadcom's website the latest available is 15.6.0.2 and it is dated June
4 2013. Shouldn't a smaller number be an older version?
What seems to work briefly is to reboot the computer, then if I open up Networking and Sharing Center and click on Change Adapter Settings then I see the network adapter is disabled. Just enable it! Of course, it will drop again.
So frustrating. I should also note that when I reboot I often get a frowney face blue screen: DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE.
Is there anything I can do? I already tried updating the driver for the network card from Broadcom. That didn't change anything. My router is provided by Verizon. The computer is a Dell XPS8100 .
