The system firmware has changed the processor's memory type range registers (MTRRs) across a sleep state transition (S4). This can result in reduced resume performance.

Hello all,

I recently upgraded my friends laptop from Windows 7 to Windows 8.

The laptop is a CQ60-XXXX series Compaq. She is indicating that now after the machine enters sleep mode it won't come out. It acts like it is... but it never resumes. A hard reset is required. I used remote assistance pulled the logs and I am seeing this..

I have tried HP's website... BIOS was flashed last time I worked on the Machine. I was thinking maybe video drivers... It has the Intel Express 4 Graphics. Windows 8 installed them an Intel's website doesn't seem to offer a separate Windows 8 Driver for this chipset...

UGH! Any advice?

I tried to write in any part of the world, it seemed that Microsoft was a company that would help his clients apparently in Italian forum did not help me their advice and I'm a fairly handsome pc with major problems and without resolution apparently . I'll list both the details of the 'mistake and all the tests I did.

error id event: 137 kernel power keyword: (1024), (4) the error occurs at the reactivation of the suspension

I tried to install clean version of Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 pro pro system in legacy mode that EUFI with usual problem. The motherboard features the latest bios with all settings from stock car version available in 2601 proved even with earlier versions. I tried to disable hibernation, disable Quick Start, disable power management of the general devices, disable power management options in the cpu section configuration in the bios (and quite cool, C16 STATE ECC.), I upgraded to the latest version all drivers and firmware for all devices on the machine, I personally set the latency of the standard ram because it gave no real results present in the bios setup to the default settings. I tried watt power supplies with more powerful as a corsair 600w, video card before 8 years ago to see if it was the PSU issue but still same problem, and I tried clean install with a traditional SATA hard disk to see if the culprit was L 'ssd . 2 issue:       The fans at the reactivation of the suspended starting at a very low speed, turn off the audience led and stop for seconds then depart to the natural level. Proved that three fans. Immediately after resuming the error appears. Sometimes the PC fizzes with no possibility to use a mouse and keyboard, and forcing you to shut down your pc from power button.

I would like answers and specific techniques to solve this problem. I thank you for now. Merry Christmas from 'Italy to all

In my case I think this error is causing the computer to wake up constantly - I rarely ever sit down at the computer when it's not already awake any more. And I hear it waking up at night when I'm in bed. (I already disabled wake using the mouse just in case) I ran the Power troubleshooter and it recommended disabling the screensaver... which failed and it was unable to do... because the screensaver ins't even enabled!! And then the lock screen started showing up even though I have it unchecked in settings. Lots of setting just change by themselves and I constantly have to reset them to my preferences. Windows 7 never did any of this...

And why in the world should we have to install our display driver in Windows 7 compatibility mode when Windows 10 has been live for almost 2 years now??? Maybe a better idea would be to just install Windows 7 and get rid of '10 problems'. LOTS of problems with Windows 10 and Microsoft doesn't appear to be willing or have any idea how to fix them....

(I know this post is in a Win8 forum but some of the replies are recent and talk about Windows 10)

The best place to start with this issue is to open an Administrative Command Prompt.  (In Win 10, use Windows Key-X and then the A key--though you will see it on the list.)

Then type:  powercfg /requests

You will see a list of the things that might have caused your computer to wake up.  To go further and understand how this works and what it means, do a search on "powercfg requests"

There are a number of things that can cause this, and it is not just about Win 10.  Follow the links that come up and you may be able to figure out what is waking your computer.  If something does show up with this command, look up requestoverrides to see if there is a way to stop it.

requestsoverride .. it no longer works in windows 10 .. it will add the items to the list but they will not go away from powercfg requests and your  computer will still stay awake. I have this issue with Windows 10 and have made many requests for Microsoft to fix that .. and just like this issue that is being discussed in this thread ... it hasn't even been looked at and will probably continue through many new updates just like the issue people are having here .. that issue has been around for at least 10 years and never fixed.

I would check your network card and see if its is set for "Allow this device to wake the computer" ... if so that may cause this issue unless you also have the "Only allow a magic packet to wake the computer" also checked.

The waking at night is normal .. that is Microsoft doing updates .. usually its set for around 3am

Requestsoverride still work in Win10. The item never goes away in powercfg requests. It's been like that since Win8. If you add the right process it will work.

I have my sound card driver on override and my Win10 sleep timer works.
