I have a Samsung Smart TV. Now that Skype for TV is discontinued, is there a download that can allow Skype for TV to continue?

What can I do that will allow me to use scype on my tv after 1st July?

BLOCKING SAMSUNG TV F/W UPDATES IN YOUR ROUTER

otn.samsungcloudcdn.com **      (THIS ONE IS THE IMPORTANT NEW ONE! SEE NOTE)

NOTE ... Depending on the DNS SERVERS YOU use, mine returns a local (to my ISP) akamaitechnologies.com Caching Server, so apply the blocking to your TV only if you can, and note it MAY block some websites on the TV.

NEVER UPDATE FIRMWARE

You will likely loose more features including the ability to load Skype and gain nothing!

Please tell me if blocking the Domains I supplied is working for you all? You should no longer receive F/W update messages on screen and no updates should appear in the F/W update System Menu.

From what I've read J series and above can not be rooted & Skype can not be installed and likely will never be able to.

As with the last reply linking to the sentab product, it seems the only answer seems to be an additional box. A low cost approach I have used successfully is an Android TV box (which will run the Android version of Skype) supporting a monitor connection to the TV (eg VGA or HDMI connection), an internet connection, with a compatible USB web cam, and all the necessary cables. The configuration I have implemented is an elderly "Justop Smart TV Player with Android 4" and a Logitech C170 webcam. Obviously this approach is not as integrated and easy to use as the Skype on TV, but for my occasional use this working well enough.

Sorry but it us not possible to use Skype on the Samsung smart TV. After Skype /Microsoft discontinued the support a few years ago, there were a couple of work arounds done by independant skilled people in the programming field. But eventually Skype/ Microsoft blocked these attempts to keep Skype on the smart tv's. At the moment I am using an Android box to use the Skype android app on my tv, and hope to continue to do so in the future. Maybe because there are so many variants of the Skype android app, e.g. phone, tablet, set top box we can safely expect to have the pleasure of Skyping for years to come.
