why i cant write on microsoft word? the selection is locked

why I cant write anything.when I type at the bottom say the selection is locked

Please provide more information before we proceed.

1.  Does this issue occurs on any particular file or with all Word files?

2.  Are you trying to write something in existing file?

3.  What is the edition of Office 2016 are you using? Have you activated it?

Hi - can you break down your problem a little for us? Something like:

1. Start Word 2016 from Windows menu

2. Try and type...

This helps us try the same thing to see if we also see what you are seeing.

The message you mention is shown if you are running an expired trial version of Office. It may also show if the document contains protected/locked content controls.

Although  i paid for the word and the application installed already i cant edit my old file as it will state that the selection of editing is locked

Is the problem with a particular document? In that case, see if it contains protected content controls.

If you can access File | save As, try saving the document in *.doc (Word 97–2003) format, which will remove content controls.

If the problem occurs with all documents, see if there is an expired trial version installed alongside your full version; if you find one, uninstall it and then repair your full version.
