Outlook 2011 Mac: Add Account button disabled

I am attempting to add an email account to Outlook 2011 for Mac. On the "Enter your account information" sheet, even though I have filled in all relevant fields, the "Add Account" button is greyed out (only the Cancel button is visible). I rebuilt my Office Identify, but that didn't fix this. How can I add an account to Outlook?

(Question: does the 10K restriction include nested subfolders? That is, if I have folder1a and folder1b inside folder1, and both 1a and 1b have 8K messages, is that OK?)

It's per folder. The 10K is a guesstimate since messages can be different sizes.

Try this create a smart folder for all mail.

Date created > Any Date

Select column to sort by Sent

Assign a category Year 2010 to all mail in 2010.
Continue assigning category by year until all mail has a category assigned.

Now try exporting by category Year 2010 etc. You do one category at a time. This might help narrow down where the corruption exists.

Once you find the year, you can further test by adding category by quarter "Year 2010 qt1". If you can get it down to one specific quarter, export by month.

BTW, did you ever try the Hail Mary to recover your data? See step 3 here:

This indicates corruption. We had a script in Entourage that helped to find the folder with a problem, but the script is broken in Outlook.

Suggestions:

1) If the database opens, then check each folder to be sure it's not got over 10K messages. If you find a folder (it's usually Inbox or Sent folders) with over 2GB mail, make subfolders and move older mail to subfolder. Note: if you drag a folder to the desktop and it's 2GB it might crash Outlook, but it will also allow you to check size.

2) Select File > Export but do not check Mail. This will get all your other data and exclude it as part of the corrupted data. Normally it's Mail that's corrupt but I occasionally see contacts and events that are corrupt.

3) Try step 3 Hail Mary to see if that helps recover your data.

3) Try the EmailChemy demo that exports items as .mbox and/or .olm/.rge files. This might help find the corrupt folder.
