Windows Mail Font Problems After Installing IE9

I just installed IE9 (Mar 14, 2011) and this complex problem began. Have Vista Ultimate and use Windows Mail. My default font is Verdana bold 10 pt. With IE9 it appears way too bold (never appeared like that with IE8). Other fonts also appear too bold.

Another odd aspect of the same problem, at the bottom of HTML emails, you have three buttons (combined, called source edit): Edit Source Preview.  Since IE9, they appear bold - possibly a slightly larger font than they used to be in IE8.

My emails stored in folders are in HTML format and upon viewing them, the fonts have changed since installing IE9 on many emails - but not all emails. Fonts that should be Verdana bold 10 pt or some other font are now showing up as Times New Roman 10 pt.

There is a second separate problem with TNR in Windows Mail. I've used TNR 12 pt for an email and after sending the email, it shows up as TNR 10 pt when a reply is received. Regardless of the source of the reply. I never use TNR 10 pt because it appears too small for most people. Somehow 12 pt changes to appear as 10 pt over and over again. And now it continues that pattern since using IE9.

A possible connection to explain the font changing problem above. The default for IE9 is TNR. [Tools>Internet Options>General Tab>Fonts] Shouldn't some websites appear in TNR? They ALL appear in some other font, possibly Verdana. Setting fonts to TNR in Accessibility results in all fonts at all websites appearing in TNR. I suspect when I changed the setting in Accessibility, that besides changing websites, it also changed the email fonts in Windows Mail. I've since unticked everything in Accessibility and "Fonts" is set at default (TNR). The stored emails continue to show the TNR font, they did not revert back to Verdana.

Anyone having similar problems?  Anyone have ideas how to correct these problems?
Answer
Answer
You can set the default font in IE to be the font you want in the email client via Tools | Internet Options | Fonts.  Otherwise in IE9, you are stuck with what you've got with respect to Windows Mail.  The changes are in the new dll's that are in IE9 and you can't change those dll's unless you go back to IE8.  Its Microsofts' products, so they are responsible for your results.  Yes, its "squarely" a Microsoft issue.
