There is no email program associated to perform the requested action.

New computer with Windows 7.  I have installed Microsoft office 2007.  I cannot get Outlook to work.  Cannot get past the Start up wizard.  When I try to send an email I get a message "There is no email program associated to perform the requested action.  Please install an email program or, if one is already installed create an association in the Default Programs control panel.  I have tried everything I know to fix this.

Answer

Ensure Outlook is set as the default mail program using the steps given  here.

If the issue still persists disable the compatibility mode for outlook.exe if it’s already enabled using the following steps:

Open the following location:

·         drive(C):\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12 locate Outlook or Outlook.exe

·         Right-click on Outlook or Outlook.exe > Properties > click on the Compatibility tab at the top; ensure none of the options are checked > OK

·         Restart Outlook

Note: for 64-bit Windows open Program files (x86) installed of Program Files folder.
