Answer

I think I now understand however the documentation is very confusing. The OneNote files are Automatically Synced with Skydrive and they have a completely different set of instructions. It is difficult to understand why word and excel aren't handled just like the OneNOTE Sky Drive Integration. Thanks to Everyone for their Responses

Skydrive integration is not native to Windows Office Mobile on your WinPhone 7.

Do you mean Sharepoint?

There's no way to sync or save Office Documents to Windows Live SkyDrive from a windows phone, but you can download files from SkyDrive to your Windows Phone.  Then if you work on them or if you create new documents, you can email them to yourself.  Then when you download your email to your desktop computer, you'll be able to save the attached files to your computer.

To download files fro SkyDrive: open up the mobile browser on the phone and go to http://home.live.com

  • Select Office from the list
  • Input your windows live id and password
  • Tap through the folders and such to the word or excel file you want to download
  • When you get to the file and tap it you should see a download option there. Tap that and then you'll see the excel or word icon with the words "Press to open the file" under that.
  • Press to open the file
  • The file will open up on your phone and you can tap the 3 dots (ellipsis) at the bottom of the screen to find the "save as" option.
  • Tap "save as," input the name of the file and the file will be saved on your phone. Then when you go into the Office hub you'll see the file there.

Yoiu need to navigate to your Skydrive folders via Internet Explorer (its one of my saved favorites), navigate to your document and select it. The last option presented is 'more', which allows you to select 'download'. That offers to open the document in the appropriate Office App. Once open hit the ellipses ( ...) and use Save As, which lets you name (rename) the file and stores it on the device in the Office Hub.

I find that it is tricky to get the  'more' to act right, but it can be done. Quite often it just opens the document in a browser window, and you can edit a bit from there, but can't save it to the device. You have to get to the download option from the file list. I seem to have better luck from the Recent Documents display than openning a folder.

As far as getting things to SkyDrive, not current option. Getting a file off the device involves mailing it at this point it seems. Attaching things to an eMail and openning on the device is actually easier for getting things on as well.

Related to this...I thought I was going crazy. I couldn't find the "Download" link on many occasions. Now I figured out that if I turn the phone sideways, it often shows up at the top, below the breadcrumbs along with "Properties" and "Sign out". I still don't see the "more" option.
