Question

facebook error

Applies To:

When adding a facebook account to email and account settings i keep getting an error saying synching failed. it wont let me save my password. error code 85FB4400

 

any ideas?

Answer

This error usually indicates that Windows Phone 7 was unable to sync a Facebook profile picture. This is mostly a benign error and can probably be ignored if the rest of the Facebook integration (what's new feed, contacts, etc. are working fine).

I, too, have ran into this issue and discovered the problem to be caused by a single contact -- whose picture also showed a red (x) when I viewed their profile in Facebook through a web browser. Since there is a red (x), it means there is no corresponding image in the Facebook service and, therefore, the issue has a downstream effect on the phone. The error won't go away unless the contact has a valid photo.

I'm getting the same error.  Mail (hotmail) is working fine, only facebook sync that isn't working

I get this error but I'm pretty sure it's caused by my facebook picture.  Is there some way to reset this? HTC sense on my old Touch Pro had trouble syncing in my profile picture as well at first.  I've "worked around" the issue by putting my facebook profile picture as my Windows Live picture but it doesn't solve it.
