How do I get LinkedIn contacts to appear in the People Hub? With Facebook it was easy as there was an account type supported by the phone. For LinkedIn I need to somehow hook my LiveId to LinkedIn.
In the UserName->Services->LinkedIn menu on live.com there are options to link the two accounts. I chose the single option to show my LinkedIn options in LiveMessenger since there was no option to sync the contacts.
But I'm not seeing these contacts in Hotmail contacts or Messenger contacts or the People hub.
What am I doing wrong?
Hello Festis,
I am reasearching this issue, and will keep you updated.
After I first read your question (a couple of days ago), I added my LinkedIn account to Windows Live and my contacts didn't show up in my Hotmail Contacts either. But now when I view my Windows Live Contacts I see that they are there. Perhaps it takes several hours for this information to be synced over to Windows Live from LinkedIn. Have you checked your account lately to see if these contacts are in your Live Contacts?
But I still don't see them on my windows phone.
Maybe PatriziaR can shed some light on this after researching it a bit.
Same for me. After 24-48 hours I now see the linkedIn contacts in my live account in both the hotmail and messenger areas.
But nothing on my windows phone 7 yet.
I just integrated LinkedIn on my windows live account and now see the linkedIn status updates on my phone but definitely no contact synchronization.
I hope though with all this initegration there is an easy way to build filter lists for contacts coming in the near future :)
Okay, so I played around with this some more and I've figured it out! The LinkedIn integration to windows phone is not fully implemented - it's only half baked!
From my computer, I logged into my Windows Live account and clicked on Hotmail > Contacts. I chose one of the LinkedIn contacts that is not showing up on my windows phone (but whose status updates are showing up on the "What's New" screen of the phone - one of my more active LinkedIn contacts - let's say his name is John Doe).
I opened up John Doe's record and input "this is a test" in the Notes field. Closed and saved the record.
I waited a few seconds and then I checked my phone's Contacts listing. Now John Doe's Contact information shows up on my phone, but not the complete information. There is now a record (John Doe) with the only information in that record being what I input into the Notes field ("this is a test") . None of the useful LinkedIn information is there. Seems that the LinkedIn information is only linked in to the Contact information that displays in the Hotmail > Contacts, but since the information isn't really a part of the record, it's not there to be synced to the phone.
It's actually pretty cool, but... pretty lame too. But, now I'm thinking that we'll eventually see full LinkedIn integration with our windows phones in a future update of the software....
While we wait.....go to the Marketplace > Social apps > and download the new Link Me In application.
The first time I did this with the Mango update, the integration worked well. However I got 150 extra people in my people hub - most of whom I didn't want to see. So I deleted the linkedin account. Then I discovered I could filter out different types of people from the people hub (setting, touch left and look at people settting for filter). When I tried to restore the linkedin contacts, although they appear as linkedin windows live contacts on my PC, they wont synchronise to my phone :-(
