Many thanks. I did edit my last comment, but obviously did it incorrectly!!
Anyhow, great success!! Went to the HTC download/update site and downloaded a later ROM version. Everything has gone fine and I have activated HTC first time and am reading my first book on this PDA. Would strongly advise all other HTC HD2 users to do the same thing. I'm sure it is the answer. I know the download site gives warngs, but I woild emphasise it is most important to back up before starting installing the updated ROM.
Good luck. I'm a very ha[[y "bunny"

...but when I try to activate it tells me my version of windows mobile is too old.
The initial error message that they are seeing is usually from the missing OEMInfo.xml file. This file is manufacturer dependent and is created by sending a key blob to Microsoft. If they got the file from an unreliable source that doesn't match the key blob then that may cause the issue that they are seeing. Have them email *** Email address is removed for privacy *** and I will send them a file that should match and we can go from there.
