Question

Windows Mobile 6.1 . I cannot remove Uninstalled Software from Apllication Uninstall list

Hello,

I've just got a new PDA with WM 6.1.

I've installled several applications to check and test device and O.S., than I've uninstalled most of them but 2 of them still are on Installed Application List. No way to remove, with ActiveSync, with Application Uninstaller, with MemMaid and SKTools too.

I've tried to find applications items in the registry, no success.

May you tell me where I can find and edit file that contents Installed Application list ?

Thanks a lot,

Walter from Italy (sorry for my english)

Answer

I have found the solution to the various posts listed on not being able to get rid of an uninstalled prog in the remove progs window. Using MemMaid 2.3 go jump to/databases/database usage, highlight SwMgmtMetadataStore and click browse, highlight offending entry and delete it. Then do and soft reset and you will find that the prog is no longer in the remove prog window. Hope this helps.

This worked!  This was the only place left that the offending entry seems to have existed which made it appear in the uninstall programs list.  Thanks so much!  After doing all the registry editing that was suggested in this thread, THIS WORKED!  Of course, one will want to delete the rogue registry entries as well, but this is the step necessary to remove it once and for all from the uninstall programs list.  Thanks again!

It's only the icons that are there, right? I assume you're getting an error when you tap the icons to execute the programs. Open File Explorer on your device and go to \Windows\Start Menu\Programs and delete them.

no, icons are not there. The problem is that if I want to reinstall programs, I've not success. Both say : impossible to remove old installation, new installation is halted. that means there is some process or file or I-don't-know-what that is still running on the device....

Open the registry on your device. Go to HKLM\Software\. Do you see any reference to these applications in there?
