Thank you.
my phone wont run media player any time i try to change my ringtone it says "this ring tone file is corrupted or unavailable. please choose a different ring tone." i cant even watch my videos or listen to music because media player wont run help help
If shutting it completely off then on does not fix the issue, try a Hard Reset. If fact, since the 6.1 ROM upgrade has just been released, do the upgrade. My guess is this issue will be gone.
Has anybody found a fix? turning the phone off and back on does not work.. and i allready have to upgrade.
HELP!!!!!
Best dicription of the error:
Media Player essentially stopped functioning. The only sounds the phone makes are the basic *beep* & the *at&t tone*. Any other sound, ones I've edited & the ones that came with the phone, will not work. I have a feeling it has something to do with the Media Player because when I attempt to open either an audio or video file the system does nothing. No error message or any other activity. It does nothing until I *toggle the cursor* again; as if I hadn't selected anything at all. I've tried files both on the phone & on my card, and I've also attempted to just play the tones the phone came with (in the options & alarm screen) and I only get error messages stating "This ring tone file is corrupted or unavailable. Please choose a different ring tone." I know this is not the case as 1)I get the message for all tones, except the two mentioned previously, and 2)the tones & videos work on other phones and computers.
So if you did the ROM upgrade and the problem persists I would reach out to your provider or Samsung.
Thanks for that post Wantakakiaa. I tend to agree with you when you say:

As much as you do not want to do a hard reset, I think that may well be the fastest and easiest solution ... IMHO
Nor do I know that answer either. it would most likely be a monumental task in trying to search for it ... for me, it is easier to bite the bullet and do the hard reset.
I like the challenge of fixing things and do it but at some point it is just not worth thte time IMHO.
We could compare registry values if we had the same devie but that would take forever....
