Windows mobile device manager download for Windows 7 gives an error saying it is incompatible with Windows 7?

I have just upgraded Vista 64 bit to Windows 7 64 bit and I am trying to sync my Windows 6.1 device. I  have downloaded the newest Windows Device Manager from the Microsoft website but when I try to install it I get an error message saying the version (the latest) is incompatible with the version of windows I am using. I don't get why this issue is not corrected yet.

Save the file to another folder and it should work. Try c:\temp.

Hi,

You downloaded WMDC from this link, right?

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=4F68EB56-7825-43B2-AC89-2030ED98ED95&displaylang=en

Maybe you downloaded the 32bit version by mistake.

Linley.

No, that IS the link to the version I've downloaded, and I also tried the 32 bit version too just to see if it might work.

Same error for both.

OK, here is another error message I get when I download:

 "Error creating process <C:\Users\HOME~1\AppData\Local\Temp\IXP000.TMP\driver_setup.exe /i dvrupdate-amd64.msi>

Reason: The system cannot find the file specified.

Hi,
I just got a new machine W7 64 bits, and for some reason I cannot install WMDM, becasue the genueine validator says that it cannot run on this machine. This genueine validator is supposed to be downloaded automatically, and it does, but it cannot run on the w7.

is there a location from where I can download WMDM for W7 64bit skipping the validator???

Please, advice
thanks,
francisco

Hello. Please make sure you are using Internet Explorer 32-bit and the download should proceed normally. IE 64-bit, Firefox, and Chrome will not work. If it still doesn't work, you can d/l the 64-bit version of Windows Mobile Device Center here:
