.Net Framework updates fail to install

Original Title: Windows Update Failure

My Windows XP will not install Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 SP1 on Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows Server 2008 x86 (KB2656370) and Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 SP1 on Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows Server 2008 x86 (KB2656353)These updates continue to fail even after running the fixit application. has ayone had this problem and fixed it?

you might have to repair your .net framework,

the above link is my skydrive 4 files you need to download and do in order. 1,2,3, and then 4 and reboot.

then you should go to Microsoft update and do a high priority scan and install all high priority updates.

There are a few contributors to this forum that state that the fixits are generally not worth running and it is better to fix the issue yourself.

Post back with results of framework fix and answer a few questions please, on your return post:

make and model of pc

current antivirus

OS and service pack.?

Dell Dimension 3000, Firefox, WinXP Pro/Sp3, 360 TSE by Qiho, MBAM

First of all --THANK YOU so much for the fix, worked perfectly.

 

I have:

 

HP Workstation xw4200

AV is Microsoft Security Essentials (Free)

WinXP Pro SP3
