On starting up I get a message from (Wlancfg5.exe) unable to locate component (Wlandll.dll)

My PC on Starting up I get a message from (Wlancfg5.exe) unable to locate component (Wlandll.dll) was not found I have tried downloading component but with no success, can you help?

Based on the above description, it appears that you get a message from (Wlancfg5.exe) that says, it is unable to locate component (Wlandll.dll). wlancfg5.exe is a process belonging to the Netgear Smart Configuration Module and provides additional configuration options for these devices. We are here to help you and guide you in the right direction.


I would appreciate if you could answer the following questions:

1.    Have you made any recent changes to your computer?

2.    Are you using NETGEAR wireless adapter?

3.    What is the make and model of your computer?


Here are some troubleshooting steps that you can try to resolve this problem.


Method 1: Let's uninstall and reinstall the Netgear application along with the WLAN drivers.


To uninstall, refer to the suggestion from the following link: How to change or remove a program in Windows XP.

Uninstall Netgear drivers from the device manager, refer to the following link.

Now install the Netgear application, drivers from the CD that you received from Netgear.


Method 2: Perform a full scan using Microsoft Safety Scanner.

Note: Any data files that are infected may only be cleaned by deleting the file entirely, which means there is a potential for data loss.
