error message: An exception occurred while trying to run "C:\WINDOWS\system32\NvCpl.dll,NvStartup"

I get this error message when I start up the computer: "An exception occurred while trying to run "C:\WINDOWS\system32\NvCpl.dll,NvStartup". It will still let me get into the computer but when I attempt to load new software (Click free, C6) it won't do it. Any solutions out there?

Answer
Hi,

NvCpl.dll (Process name: Nvidia Display Properties Extension) and NvStartup is related to the Nvidia.

This happens when the drivers are not updated or if they are corrupted. You can uninstall the Nvidia graphics card driver as well as the software from the system and then download the driver and check whether the issue is resolved.

a.          Click on Start menu and click on Run.

b.         Type devmgmt.msc in the run box and press Enter.

c.          Click on display adapter and right click on the driver.

d.         Click on uninstall, then download the driver from the manufacturer’s website and install it on the system.

Check whether the issue is resolved.

Note: Remove the software for the display adapter from the system when you uninstall the driver from the system.
