Starting over, new to this. This is the complete error message. Occurred also with an email I tried to send. A TCP/IP error occurred while trying to connect to the server. Account: 'austin.rr.com', Server: 'pop-server.austin.rr.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC15. Have Outlook Express 6 for long time. Just happened on 11/10 PM after working fine in AM on same day.

You should have kept going in your first thread.
Try in a new identity.
You may have a damaged identity especially if it is the default Main Identity. File | Identity | Add New Identity. Create a new one and test it. If all is well, you can import your messages and Address Book from the old identity and delete it.
Note: Do not use the word Main in the name of the new identity.

You set up a new identity the same as you set up OE originally. I gave you the instructions.
You test ti by sending a message to yourself.
You do not lose anything in the old identity. If the new one works, you import your messages from the old identity to the new one. If the new one works, I will guide you through that process.

This is the error message when I set up the new identity:
The host 'smtp.austin.rr.com' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly. Account: 'SBC Yahoo! Mail-j.patton16', Server: 'smtp.austin.rr.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 11004, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D
Re: How to Reset the IP Stack. Followed those instructions on 11/12, but sending and receiving email on Outlook Express didn't work with my old identity.
After I tried that, I just set up the new identity today 11/13, sent myself an email, and the above error number occurred.

I don't think you have the correct settings. RR says:
Texas (Austin)
Incoming: pop-server.austin.rr.com
Outgoing: smtp-server.austin.rr.com
http://www.webdevelopersnotes.com/blog/road-runner-email-incoming-and-outgoing-server-information/#TX
The word server is missing. And what is this SBC about? Are you trying to use a Yahoo account?

I'll check the settings. The roadrunner settings were totally correct under my old identity. I checked this many times. Now, when I used the email server set-up wizard under the new identity, it came up that my old ATT server was found, not the roadrunner. So, I cancelled what they had and inputted my email address (on the wizard window) as my server, along with the password that I use for roadrunner.
Yahoo has a bad problem that everyone complains about. They will not let one change their email address without losing all the content one might have on Yahoo. Even though I have cancelled my service with ATT, that email address still is shown on Yahoo.
So, I'll go back and look again under the old identity. Later...... Sandandsea
