Question

Great yet very disappointing

Well, leave it to Microsoft to delight me and disappoint me all in one short space of time.  When I found I had a virus on my computer I decided to do the Factory Restore but not before backing up my files through the file and settings transfer wizard.  Everything seemed to go smoothly with the transfer of files to 2 flash drives so I then restored the computer.  Everything is working great and it seems the virus is gone but now I am left with a couple of dat files which will not go back onto the computer.  I have searched EVERYWHERE and it seems I need something called rmv2opq and fastconv which even the Microsoft website refers to using.  Seems through conversation threads, since I have removeable media, I need a special tool to convert those files to then be able to fast convert them back to my computer.  Funny, there was nothing mentioned when running the program this would be necessary.  I can't find the tools anywhere...well I thought I found them on fastconv.com but when I tried to run them I just get a description of what they are supposed to do...no actual doing anything.

How is it you provide this wizard in XP (for a long time now) and when rampant evidence (search problems with F.A.S.T) arises there are serious issues with it, there is no fix or no warning.  Seems you guys have had plenty of time to figure it out.  Aren't you better than this...just leaving us hanging...suggesting files are corrupted rather than addressing the problem?  Or do I have to pay to talk to someone?

I really don't expect any help with this...I don't think there is any.  I've lost my files and have to live with it.  Apple is looking better and better.  Few if any viruses and problems with software.

I am in the same boat.  Backed up to external hard drive and now the file and settings wizard is whirling along, was 5 hours last time, we will see now.  Hate to lose all that data, should have done a simple copy of files as the external HD is big enough.  I am now feeling lost.
