Insufficient privileges to install services

Hi,

Im trying to install iTunes on my friend's Dell XPS, running windows vista ultimate (32-bit), but whenever I reach the end of the install, it pops up with an error telling me: 

"Service 'Apple Mobile Device' (Apple Mobile Device) could not be installed. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to install system services"

I am right-clicking on the setup and clicking, "run as administrator," but that isn't working.  I have tried placing it in the root C:\ folder and installing from there.  Also, I have tried running it in compatablity mode for XP (service pack 2).  I've even tried activating the administrator account using "net user administrator /active:yes"  and installing there, but it will not even install then.

If anyone could help, that would be great.

Did you try the disabling of your security programs to see if they were blocking the install.

There is a large thread going on at Apple about this problem, it includes several workarounds, so it might be worth a read?

One thing that I thought you might like to try is disabling all your security scanning programs like virus scanning etc. to see if that helps?

Thank you for the info, but that thread is related to 64-bit, and the methods don't work for 32-bit.  But thank you for showing this to me, and im sure it will be helpful to any 64-bit users with the same problem.
