Question

Roxio 9 - drives disabled

Having just installed Roxio 9 I receive the following message when trying to log in to it:

"All your drives are set to disabled. On this operating system, in order to start Roxio Creator 9 you must either physically remove your drive(s) or enable at least one drive."

I would be grateful if someone could explain (in simple terms for a computer duffer!) how to do this.

Many thanks.

Answer

Hi Brian Buck,

Welcome to Microsoft Vista Answers Forum!

Looks like the CD/DVD drive have been disabled with the installation of the Roxio program. We have a very simple fix for this in the knowledge base article KB 314060.

Your CD drive or DVD drive is missing or is not recognized by Windows or other programs: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060

Please open the above article and click on the Microsoft Fix it icon. You will get a “File Download – Security Warning” with Run, Save and Cancel options. Save this tool to your desktop and double click on it. This tool is designed to fix the problem automatically for you.

Please reply and let us know if your issue is resolved or if you will need further assistance.

hello,

I have been having this same problem - i have upgraded my samsung np-x22 laptop from vista home 32bit to windows 7 professional 64 bit. It now only recognises my dvd-rw (DV-W28EC) as a CD reader, not as a DVD RW. I have tried running the Microsoft Fix - but it says - no you have a CD - no problems here. I have also tried deleting the registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

upper and lower filters....
but this didn't work and itunes then also broke!

I did a full clean reinstall of W7 and have scanned with zonealarm premium and avg free as well as malwareblaster and spybot so no virus or infection. I have scoured the internet and numerous forums, which feature the same problem, but have no answer! Can you guys PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help.

Under device manager CD/DVD reads: TEAC DV-W28ECS ATA Device

I can't find a driver / firmware update for this model Samsung have also proved useless in this regard.

Hi there,

I was offline for quite a few months, and when I logged back onto the internet there were many windows updates to install. After doing so, I can no longer access my D drive, which was set-up as an internal extra hard drive (kind of like the regular C drive, but where I stored all my documents). I have run a few hardware tests and apparently it's healthy and there are no problems with it, but I cannot access it from My Computer. Where did it go all of a sudden? I tried wiggling wires and uninstalling it, then reinstalling it...all to no avail.

Please help!
Heather
