Itunes cannot run because some of its required files are missing.

I have been using itunes on my pc for atleast 5 years, but now when i try to open it i get the above message and am told to reinstall itunes. How has this happened and what do I do?

·         Were there any recent changes made on the computer prior to the issue?

·         What is the exact error message?
