E-mails disappear after reading

I'm wondering why after I read some e-mails they just disappear. I don't delete them, they don't go in my delete file, they just disappear. If I respond to the e-mail it will disappear from my inbox file but stay in my sent file. If I forward the e-mail to someone else it does not disappear from their inbox. Why is this happening and how do I fix it?

While in the Inbox: View | Current View. Make sure  Show All Messages  is checked and nothing else.
