HP Laserjet 1010 not printing

After reinstalling Windows Vista 32 bit and HP Laserjet 1010 printer and updating the driver the printer is not working.  There is nothing wrong with the printer (everything has been checked with the Microsoft Fix It program).  When I click on and open the printer it shows there is an error.

Did you install the printer as per HP instructions, which usually means installing HP software *prior* to connecting the printer, and did you use the latest software/ drivers from HP site, or did you just plug it in?

And if you installed the HP drivers / software there is an HP testing utility, theres also the ability to print a test page via the printer Btns
