How to open a .Tiff file using Microsoft Office Picture Manager?

For some reason, the Default Programs-Set associations will not override Quick time.  I cannot open a tiff file.  I have Itunes & Quick Time player installed.  I want to open the tiff files using Microsoft Office Picture Viewer and I have set my default for opening tiff and tif files to Microsoft Office Picture Manager.  However, when I click on a tiff file to open it, the system tries to open it using Quick Time viewer and then I get a blank screen with "done" at the bottom.  When I uninstall Quick Time, the tiff files open as advertised in Microsoft Office Picture Manager.  Any ideas of how to keep Quick Time installed and still be able to open tiff files?

Thanks for all of the info on this. I have the exact same problem and did alot of reading on your posting and was able to finally open my attachment! The same thing with quicktime also was happening and it was sooo frustrating, but thanks again for all of your help.

Right click on the .tiff file and click Open With then click Microsoft Office Picture Manager and it will open in that program without you needing to uninstall QuickTime.  I do not understand why making Microsoft Office Picture Manager the default program for .tiff files in File Associations doesn't work to open those files automatically using that program (I don't see how QuickTime is overriding the setting).  I haven't heard of this problem before.  Try rebooting after you make the change to the default program association to make sure it "takes" and see if that works.

Good luck and I hope this helps.
