.dll files failing to register

I'm having problems with Trend Micro Internet Security.  I can't get anything to come up in the Main Console box.  Their 2nd level support person checked and I have the following files that will not register: asctrls.ocx , shdocvw.dll , mshtml.dll , comctl32.dll, inetcpl.cpl , mshtml.dll , msxml.dll , wininet.dll

I'm running Vista Home Premium that was installed by Lenovo when I purchased the computer a year ago.  I have kept all of my updates current as of last night's latest update.  What do you suggest to fix the problem?  Please respond to me via the following email address *** Email address is removed for privacy ***

Hi Larry,

What happen when you try to register the files? Do you get any error message?

Please provide the exact error message.

Explanation of Regsvr32 usage and error messages

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/249873

Make sure to register the files in elevated command prompt

a)    Click on start and in the start search bar type cmd, right click on the command prompt icon in the programs area and then click on run as administrator.

b)    At the command prompt type regsvr32 “file name” and then press enter.

Step 1: The system file checker (SFC) utility allows administrators to perform a scan of all protected resources to verify that they are the correct version. If SFC should find any incorrect versions in any of these protected resources, SFC will replace them with the correct versions.

You can always run a SFC scan on the windows vista computer. To run a SFC scan follow the steps below:

a)    Click on start and in the start search bar type cmd, right click on the command prompt icon in the programs area and then click on run as administrator.

b)    At the command prompt type sfc /scannow and then press enter.

You may follow the steps mentioned in the link below to fix the program issue.

Thanks Ajay for answering my inquiry.  I printed out your note and followed it to the letter.  Here are the results.

I went to the "Run Command Prompt" and ran the "sfc /scannow" process and nothing happened.  No box opened or did my computer give any indication of what happened.

Then I went to command prompt again and ran the regsvr32 "file name"   on each of the files in my original note that the Suppot guy from Trend Micro said did not register.  Here are the results of that process:

asctrls.ocx and msxml.dll gave the following error message:  "The module failed to load.  The specified module could not be found."

shdocvw.dll, mshtml.dll, comctl32.dll, inetcpl.cpl and wininet.dll
gave the following error message:  "The module was loaded but the entry-point DllRegisterServer was not found.  Make sure that this is a valid DLL or OCX file and try again."

Does any of this give you any idea of what is going on?  I have a seondary problem with Vista and I don't know if the two are connected.  But sometimes when I reboot my computer, my profile fails to load.  I get the message "Creating Desktop" and when it finally gets done loading it's like I am just opening Windows for the fist time.  So far when I reboot again it does go ahead and load my profile.  This is very scary though, because I wonder some day if my profile will fail to load at all.
