Windows update failing with 80070020

I'm running windows update on Vista, and it's failing with  "WindowsUpdate_80070020" "WindowsUpdate_dt000" and of course when I click "get help for this error," I get no results (as always). Can someone please look up what this error code means and tell me what's not working?

-2147024864 STIERR_SHARING_VIOLATION The process cannot access the file
because it is being used by another process 

Other folks may have additional ideas for you; hope this helps a bit,  take
a look at this

You receive a "0x80070020 The process cannot access the file because it is
being used by another process" error message when you try to download an
update from Windows Update or from Microsoft Update
