Windows Update Active X control won't install

Applies To:
I updated to IE8 but it my monitor kept freezing up so I reverted back to IE7. When I try to go to Windows update it lists the steps to load the Active X control but the information bar is not displayed to allow me to install it. I downloaded the Windows Update Agent pack and installed it, but it said that I already have the latest files. I'm pretty much dead in the water now. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi glamson

 

 Reset the windows update component. There is Fix it tool below link will help you with the same:

How do I reset Windows Update components: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058

 

     Once reset is complete perform Windows update. Please revert back with the result.
