What version of Windows do I have?

What version of Windows do I have? I also can't read the sticker because it is worn and the laptop will not fully boot up or repair itself, recovery disks are lost. Part number is paert readable bbut looks like: <removed>

Can I use any installation dissk to re-install whichever windows I had pre-installeed.

the laptop is a HP notebook G61-110SA

Hold down the Windows key and press Pause|Break. It will tell you
there.

Hi,

You probably do not need to know what the Windows version is but control panel/system will tell you if you are interested. There will probably also be a sticker on the laptop (not the one you cannot read, under the lid near the mouse pad) which tells you, but I guess you might have peeled it off.

Also, if the recovery disks came with the laptop or you burned them for youself these should also do the job.

Before you do a re-installation back up your data so you can restore it afterwards. You will also have to re-install software that was installed after purchase.
