FSX and activation

I have for 2 years been using FSX (running now SP2) on Vista with no problem, activation and all. Suddenly two weeks ago FSX starts asking for activation of the product. Having tried a few times I decided to reinstall FSX from scratch, but unfortunately the answer is still "A technical problem occurred while accessing the online server". When trying to use "Activate by telephone" FSX comes with a Product Activation Error = "Failed to retrieve the product installation ID" which prevents me from activating by phone. I've tried to repair the installation a couple of times - just to be on the safe side - but with no difference.

Is the activation server offline or ...???
Any help is highly appreciated.

Sounds like you will need to call Microsoft and activate the product manually if you aren't getting anything since If the product ID number is missing, the product has not been activated.
All you need is the key that came with your copy of FSX to activate over the phone. At least that's what I had to do the once time I had to call on the phone to activate manually.
