DirectDraw on Windows 7?

Hello

I have Windows 7 Ultimate Edition 64 bits original, an 9800GT Nvidia graphic card, with the latest driver installed, and DirectX 11, I've runned dxwebsetup to update my directx already, etc.

I'm having problems to play old games that requires DirectDraw, as Diablo 2, it gives this message:

"Error 22: A critical error has occurred while initializing DirectDraw"

At dxdiag, it says the DirectDraw is "Not Available".

What should I do?

Answer

Hi Lucas F. B,

I would suggest you to follow these steps and check if the issue is fixed.

1.      Run the DirectX Diagnostic Tool (Dxdiag.exe). To do this, follow these steps:
Click Start Collapse this imageExpand this ima, type dxdiag in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER. Collapse this imageExpand this ima

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password, or provide confirmation.

2.      On the Display tab, verify that DirectDraw Acceleration and Direct3D Acceleration are selected under DirectX Features.

If either of these lines shows a Disabled status, click Enable for that line.

3.      If multiple video adapters are installed in your computer, repeat step 2 for each Display tab in the DirectX Diagnostic Tool.
