Computer goes into sleep mode when playing certain games

Whenever I play certain games. Such as, Half life 2, Arma 2. And others [ALOT] In the middle of playing It goes into sleep mode.

The screen goes black before it says it goes into sleep mode. I press Esc or alt f4 or anything to get out of it. Even task manager. I cannot do anything. I have to restart my computer. I went and set sleep mode to never so I could prevent this. Nothing happened.

How can I stop this. It happens after 15 minutes of playing.

Hi Ban camp,

1. Since from when are you facing this issue?
2. Does this issue occur while playing other games?

Method 1:

I suggest you to delete the power plan on your computer and check if the issue gets fixed.

Refer:

Change, create, or delete a power plan (scheme)
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Change-create-or-delete-a-power-plan-scheme

Method 2:

You may vary the hardware acceleration by doing the following and check if that fixes the issue:

a. Open Screen Resolution by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, and then, under Appearance and Personalization, clicking Adjust screen resolution.
b. Click Advanced Settings, click the Troubleshoot tab, and then click Change settings.
Note that some video card drivers do not permit you to change settings.
c. Move the Hardware acceleration slider to increase/ reduce the video hardware acceleration.

Method 3:

You may uninstall the display adapter and re-install the same from Device Manager.

a. Click Start, type Device Manager in the Start search box and hit Enter.
b. Locate Display adapter and expand the same.
c. Select the problem display adapter you wish to uninstall.
d. Right-click and select Uninstall.

Follow the on-screen instructions. Restart the computer, if required.

After the computer restarts, visit the manufacturer’s website and download and install the latest display drivers.

The problem is that either your pc is getting too hot, or of you're using a game controller, then the pc doesn't recognize that you're still using the computer. I'm just answering for future googlers, I understand that this question is 4 years old.

You should get a new cpu cooler. When you go into sleep mode, the fans turn off. The fans are staying on because they are trying to cool your processor down before it melts through your case and burns a hole in your floor. You could benefit from putting a small fan under the desk and let it blow when you're doing heavy gaming. I know it will be annoying, but don't do it all the time. Just turn it on before you launch a high-end game and see if there is any difference. You can turn your computer volume up to mask the fan noises. Best of luck, everybody!
