How do I get my Macbook Pro trackpad working on Windows 8?

I installed Windows 8 in bootcamp.. the trackpad worked perfect in Windows 7, and also in Windows 8 Developer Preview.
I can't even seem to see the mouse pointer. Does that mean that the trackpad drivers are present and working, but for some reason, Windows did not install the mouse pointer? Maybe it installed the touchscreen input instead?

Could anyone please tell me how to solve this issue?
I have this same issue, and Device Manager shows the TrackPad as needing troubleshooting or drivers to be reinstalled, but even after I do that it still doesn't work properly. This isn't entirely a surprise with Apple drivers, but it is quite annoying.

I uninstalled the two touchpad devices and then did a hardware scan. They were picked up as regular USB devices and the touchpad now works. No gesture support. Feels like an old mouse, but at least I can use the trackpad until a newer driver comes out.

I try this solution but does not work at all. My Macbook Pro was produced in mid-2010.

My macbook is a late 2011. This could be the difference. Interestingly, I tried to re-install the Macbook Air mouse drivers and now it works perfectly and even shows up in my bootcamp control panel.

If you have the drivers handy, you may want to uninstall the mouse and re-install the driver to see if it gets picked up.

This worked for me:

Go to Device Manager and uninstall (and delete drivers) for the two Trackpad devices then rescan for hardware. After which, then go find your Boot Camp drivers, and don't run the full setup, but instead find the folder that specifically has the driver install packages in them and install the ones that are along the lines of "Apple Multitouch Trackpad." After this, go to your Boot Camp options to make sure that it now sees your Trackpad.

You should have full functionality restored after this.

Thank you very much. I uninstalled and deleted the drivers like you said. I then installed the drivers included in the Bootcamp 4.0 folder called "AppleTrackPadInstaller.exe" and "AppleMultiTouchTrackPadInstaller.exe" and my MacBook Pro (mid-2010 model) Track Pad now works fine with the multi-touch gestures.

I had the same issue but uninstalling the drivers via Device Manager and then reinstalling them from the Mac OS disk did not work.  If you have the same issue as me you actually have multiple versions of the drivers in your C:\Windows\System32 folder.  I had to delete all copies of applemtm.sys and applemtp.sys manually (there were versions for almost every year going back to 2008), then reinstall the drivers to get it to work properly.

This worked for me! I didn't see the trackpad in Boot Camp Control Panel right away, but after it rebooted I was able to turn on two finger scrolling and right click :)
