Welcome to Microsoft Community.
As per the description of the issue,you get error 8024A000 while updating Windows.
We need following information from you to assist you with this issue.
1) What is the exact/complete error message?
2) Do you have any third party antivirus or security software installed on your computer?
3) Have you made any changes to your computer prior to this issue?
Please check the error code in Update history and write back to us with the exact error code. Follow the steps given below to see update history.
a) Press Windows Key + X key on Desktop.
b) Select Control Panel.
c) Select Windows Update.
d) On the left had side select View Windows Update history.
Double click on the update which shows unsuccessful. After you double click you can see the error message. Please provide us the error code or the message. You can also provide us the KB number.
If you are able to boot to Desktop then please follow the methods mentioned below as troubleshooting steps.

Check for the issue, if it persists move to next method.
Method 2: Temporarily disable Security Software
I would suggest you to disable the security software temporarily and then try to create a system image.
Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you shouldn't disable your antivirus software. If you have to temporarily disable it to install other software, you should re-enable
it as soon as you're done. If you're connected to the Internet or a network while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.
Check for the issue, if it persists move to next method.
Method 3: Disable Proxy Server on your LAN.
By using a proxy server you are able to cloak your Internet Protocol address and other sensitive information, masquerading as the intermediary server that you are connected to.
Please follow the methods given below to disable proxy servers.
a) Open Internet Explorer.
b) Click on Setting (Gear) option present on top right hand corner.
c) Click on Internet Options.
d) Go to Connections tab, Click on LAN Settings.
e) Uncheck the box which says ‘Use a Proxy Server for Your LAN’.

None of this works -tried every single step. Also did things that aren't mentioned with command prompt, etc. It's been weeks since I was able to update and the updater acts like there is nothing to be updated after this whole time when this error doesn't pop up (8024A000). THIS IS DRIVING ME INSANE. Not only has it been so long since the last update, it is saying I have never had an update before, even though I am able to see a list of what I have updated. Also my scanner (which yes I tried disabling which didn't work) is picking up on updates that I am missing, but the only way to solve this is to do it through Windows Update which is impossible.

Are you using a 3rd party antivirus or firewall? One of those may be causing the issue. So it may be necessary to uninstall them and run their maker's Removal Tool to prevent trouble causing remnants.
