pre-installed windows 8 product key and backup install media

I have a new laptop with windows 8 pre-installed. I want to
1) create a backup installation DVD, and by extension
2)get my product key from wherever MS/ASUS saw fit to hide it.

To be totally clear, I want all this to be independent of any currently installed HDD/SSD.
I want to make a DVD, take the harddrive / ssd out of my laptop, put them in the bathtub with my toaster, install a new harddrive and be able to use that DVD to install my dang-well-bought-and-paid-for copy of windows 8.

The laptop is a ASUS S56c / k56ca if that helps.

Well it took about two hours, but the rescue disk/recovery image process works. Still having fun trying to get it to boot a live cd (totally unrelated) but that's a question for a different day.
