This issue usually arises when compatible drivers are not installed or available. The drivers are provide by the hardware manufacturer. Hence, these drivers can be downloaded from the HP’s support website or the support website of the individual hardware company, depending on the piece of hardware. However, as you mentioned that the drivers are not available, you may try a work around and check if it works. You may download the drivers available for Windows 7 and install them in compatibility mode. To do so refer to the steps below:

You may also try to install it compatibility mode. After downloading the setup files from the support website, try the following steps.
 a. Right click on the setup file of the driver and select Properties
 b. Select Compatibility Tab
 c. Place a check mark next to Run this program in Compatibility mode and select the operating system accordingly from the drop down list.
 d. Let the driver to install and then check the functionality
