I'm having the same issue. I was running Windows 7 Ultimate, upgraded to Windows 8 Pro. No option when I search to add.
Hi I had exactly the same problem and after 10 days of constantly annoying the Microsoft team it turned out that only windows 8 pro can and will support media center. if you have any versions of windows other than windows 8 pro, ie windows 8 pro N or likewise the add features option is not in the software so you cannot install wmc. Their are ways around this so if you have not sorted this out contact me on Email *** Email address is removed for privacy ***.

I wish I could email you for the answer, cyberlog, but it was removed from your message.
Unless Microsoft is intentionally trying to give trouble to EU users as revenge for the EU forcing them to create the 'N' editions, they should publicise the solution.
I updated from Windows 7 Home Premium N using the upgrade assistant, and it only offered me Windows 8 Pro N. I could not choose the normal version, which I would have. Though I can download to add the Windows Media PLAYER, as you have said, there is no way to 'add features' to add the Media Center that I received a key for.
I suppose one way would be to buy the boxed upgrade instead, but then I've paid for both the downloaded one and the boxed one just to get WMC.
I don't believe there is an option to side-grade from 'N' to normal Pro.
Please post any additional info you can, or at least point us in the right direction -- who to call, etc.
Thank you.

I'm mostly confident that the MSDN version of Windows 8 Pro was limited. I'm also guessing that it's possible you could initiate a PC Reset of Windows 8 and then using the boxed edition of pro enable the "add features" mechanism.
This isn't the greatest mechanism since you'll need to reload any desktop programs you had, but at least you won't lose your personal files, saving a bit of time and hassle.

Oh, I didn't actually try this though. :)

Hi Cyberlog:
Since I'm watching this thread I received your message with your phone number before it was masked on the forum. I did send you a text message to that number with my email address but I didn't hear back from you.
If you are still willing, I'd love to hear your solution since I haven't yet found one and I don't think I have the patience to pester Microsoft support enough to get satisfaction!
Thank you.

FYI - one could add media center to Windows 7 Premium N so this a regressive behaviour for an 'upgrade'.
My solution was to get a refund for my downloaded copy of Windows 8 Pro N and buy the DVD Windows 8 Pro upgrade (costs about £15 more) - but this way I could choose to buy the normal version whereas the online updater forced me to buy the N version since I was running the N edition of 7 (I don't see why it needed to do that though -- why not give me the choice!).
Then, painfully, I had to do a full re-install becuase for some reason installing Windows 8 Pro over Windows 8 Pro N could not keep programs or settings -- again, that seems ludicrous. But anyway I was then finally able to 'Add Features' and install the media center license.
It was nice of the UK Microsoft store to give me a refund for the downloaded N version.
Anyone still in this situation should fix it right away as the discounted Windows 8 Pro offer ends very soon!
