The Developer preview of Windows 8 could not be installed on a Windows Virtual PC running on Windows 7.
You could run it in Hyper V or on other virtual environments on your PC, but not using Microsoft Virtual PC.
I tried setting up the Windows 8 Consumer Preview in a Virtual PC but ended up with a HAL INITIALISATION FAILED.
Is it possible to run the the Windows 8 Consumer Preview in a Microsoft Virtual PC?
Open Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features
Click Turn Windows features on or off
Check off the Hyper-V option
-------------
Click OK
Hyper-V requires a 64-bit system with second level address translation (SLAT) capabilities and an additional 2 GB of RAM. You can also enable SLAT via a BIOS setting.
I'm using VirtualBox, but I keep getting the error: "we Couldn't Verify the Product key. Try entering it again.
I've used these two product keys:
Product Key: DNJXJ-7XBW8-2378T-X22TX-BKG7J
product key: NF32V-Q9P3W-7DR7Y-JGWRW-JFCK8
but still get the same error. These came from Microsoft's site. So i'm not sure what i'm doing wrong.
Any help?
Thanks.
Nevermind my previous comment!
It wasn't a Network setup issue.
the .ISO file does NOT like to be mounted to a virtual drive. It wants to be burned to a DVD before using it. Once I did this, I did not have any problems getting it to take the Product Key's and start to install on Virtual Box.
Hope this helps anyone else in the future!
Thanks.
