Windows 8 app store and PC Settings won't open.

Every time I click on the app store it starts to open and then closes. I was trying to find a solution to it and one was to do a computer refresh. So i went to do that and thats when I noticed that the pc settings won't open either. I've done most of the methods that have been posted to other people's questions. Is there some other way to refresh?

I just tried this, as well, and also was not able to open the app store as I have been having issues with nothing showing up on my start screen.

I have 100% same symptoms on my 5 different W8.1 units. I´m using OSD imagining in lab enviroment, so I have few Computers with 8.1 installed. I ran MS diagnostic posted here before, and only possible reason it gave - missin MSN account. I don´t think accessing PC Settings has something to do with MSN account.

Performed all these steps to no avail.  Bought full version of 8.1 and installed fresh without CorelDraw X3.  Everything's fine now.

I have been having almost the same problem for several months. None of my metro apps, including windows store and PC settings, would open. The only exceptions were apps that open in desktop view, and the desktop app itself.

I found that that other profiles on the computer worked fine.   BTW I have win8.1

Simple Fix

1.   Backup all files to an external hard drive, flash drive, etc.

2. delete broken account

3.   Create another account on your computer, you can do this by switching to another account and going   to PC settings - Accounts - other accounts - Add account

4. create account with same Microsoft account used for the original, broken, account

5. open it up every thing should be fixed, and settings saved.

6. reload files from external hard drive, flash drive, etc.

Your Done!

Note: I am pretty Shure this doesn't work if you don't have a profile that's not broken, because there is no way,(to my knowledge) to create a new account or delete an existing account. This is because these options are only in PC settings which is inaccessible on a broken account.
