windows couldn't connect to the windows all-user install agent service

I just upgraded my laptop to Windows 8 Pro for about a week.
This laptop is used so far for web browsing only. No additional program installed. So pretty much standard windows.
But today when I login using ordinary user account I get the following message

Windows couldn't connect to the windows all-user install agent service. Please consult your system administrator.

This is quite weird as it is a standard windows with no change ever made, none any program installed.

The product supposed to have 90 days support from Microsoft. But it is very hard to find how to contact Microsoft regarding this, and I can only find this forum.

Hi Agusriyadi,

Thank you for choosing Windows 8 and thanks for providing us an opportunity to assist you.

As per the description, you are unable to login to the local account as you get error message “Windows couldn't connect to the windows all-user install agent service. Please consult your system administrator”

Let’s find out if any applications/programs are conflicting with the issue. To do that, let’s boot the computer into Safe mode with networking. If it works then, lets divide and conquer to find out the cause of the issue:

Step 1: Follow the steps given in the link below to check if the issue occurs in Safe Mode with Networking

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/windows-startup-settings-including-safe-mode

Step 2:

How to perform a clean boot to troubleshoot a problem in Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: Follow the steps for Windows 8., After the resolution, follow Step 3 in the provided link to return your computer to Normal startup mode.

Please post back with the result. If the issue is still not resolved, I’ll be glad to assist you with additional options.

Hi Sandeep,

Thanks for your time replying this. I was able to login using Administrator account (fortunately I enabled it when I still used Win 7).
I tried created new user but still get the same error.
After several reboot, I the system run automatic update and suddenly the problem disappear by itself.
So I think the update solve this.

Thanks again,

Agus

My new laptop came with windows 8 and I received the same message.  Also it has failed to install several of the recent updates.  I hate using my admin account, which is what I am using now, because of the potential security risks.  How can I ensure that the updates install properly?

Hi Jon,

Please follow the methods to fix the Windows 8 update issue:

Method 1: Scan for Malware:

Microsoft Safety Scanner

http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: Any data files that are infected may only be cleaned by deleting the file entirely, which means there is a potential for data loss.

Method 2: Run SFC / Scannow. Please follow the below steps:

a. Type Windows key +W

b. Command Prompt (Admin)

c. Type cmd

d. At the Command Prompt, type: sfc/scannow

The sfc /scannow command scans all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with correct Microsoft versions.

Method 3: Run the Checksur Commands:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821

For reference:

Troubleshoot problems with installing updates:

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/troubleshoot-problems-installing-updates

Please post back if you are experiencing any issue with Windows. I will be glad to provide you with additional options.

Windows 8 was installed on my PC.  This issue popped up out of the clear blue sky and I an at odds end to figure out what to do to resolve it.  I am unable to install any new programs and it makes no difference if I am system admin or not.
