Win 8 Pro

Hi,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft community forum!

May I know if you are using the disk cleanup within windows or you are using a third party program?

I would recommend you to use disk cleanup utility within windows to remove unwanted files

Refer:

Delete files using Disk Cleanup

Note: Using Third Party Software, including hardware drivers can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from booting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that any problems resulting from the use of Third Party Software can be solved. Using Third Party Software is at your own risk.

yes I use the default windows application.

the link you provided doesn't help me with my question.

my main concern is if "windows update cleanup" option is used, will it harm the uninstallation of installed updates?

Delete everything is fine,  except you may want to keep one,  if you see it - the one item that says something like    Windows ESD about 2 to 3 gb.

You will need that file to use the windows Refresh & Reset functions, if you don't want to stick in a windows 8 DVD or the upgrade disk.

If you have had any recent errors, you might want to leave those particular items unchecked for a while.
