Unable to use homegroup , error "You are not connected to any networks".

Original Title: windows thinks i'm not connected to a network because i get this message "You are not connected to any networks" but i am (windows 8)

Hi,

I have been having problems with my windows 8 PC that was upgraded from windows 7 and it is that i am unable to use networking features such as homegroup this is because i get this message in network and sharing center "You are not connected to any networks" however i can still use chrome and a vast of other products.

Any help would be amazing.

For a better understanding of the issue, let me know if the issue happens only when you try to create a Homegroup?

This issue could have occurred due to incorrect Homegroup settings. Try the steps listed here and check if it helps.

Method 1:
I would suggest you to run HomeGroup Troubleshooter in Windows 8.1 computer.

a. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen and tap Search (or if you're using a mouse, pointing to the lower-right corner of the screen, moving the mouse pointer up, and then clicking Search).

b. Enter troubleshooting in the search box.

c. Then tap or click Troubleshooting.

d. Tap or click Network and Internet, and then tap or click HomeGroup.‌ (You might be asked for an admin password or to confirm your choice.)

e. Click Next, and then follow the instructions on your screen.

Method 2:
If the issue persists, I would suggest you to try the steps in the article and check if it helps.

2. Do you have a wired or wireless network?

Method 1:
I would suggest you to run network troubleshooter to check for any Internet connectivity issues.


a. Press the ‘Windows + W’ key on the keyboard; this will bring the search interface.

b. Click ‘Troubleshooting’ in the search result.

c. Under ‘Troubleshoot computer problem’ click on ‘Network and Internet’.

d. Click on ‘Network Adapter’ to start the troubleshooter.

Method 2:
If the issue persists, I would suggest you to refer the steps in the article and check if it helps.

I would suggest you to download and install latest Wi-Fi driver for your computer model from the computer manufacturer website and check if it helps.

iam not able to join homegroup..gets an error...before i was able to join homegroup dont know wat happnd it popup an eror now..

no i had no error message and the wifi driver but i am now unable to use my laptop as the lan port is used up by another pc

are there any other things i can try e.g is there a generic windows 8 wifi driver that i could try by downloading through the pc im using
