Bluetooth device always becomes offline [Win8] [Bluetooth] [Fujitsu]

Profile:
Running Windows 8 64bit Pro
Fujitsu LH531 Laptop

Issue Summary:
After installing a fresh copy of Windows 8 64 Bit Pro, I have tried to connect various Bluetooth devices to the PC using the Bluetooth service. I was able to add my GT N7100 Android phone as a bluetooth device. After confirming passcode on both devices, the device is momentarily showed on the Bluetooth menu in Windows. But after around 4 seconds, the device is shown as offline.

The driver I used for Bluetooth is the native Windows 8 driver that was autodetected from the CD.

What have I done to troubleshoot?
I tried downloading the latest Bluetooth driver for Windows 8 from Fujitsu's website. However Windows does not allow me to install this driver stating that it has a compatibility issue. I've also downloaded the Broadcom BCM20702 driver for this device from Broadcom's site, installed it successfully and rebooted. The issue persists.

I have checked services.msc. The Bluetooth service is running.
I have checked for a newer version of the driver from Windows Update. It is not available.

Has anyone encountered something similiar? Can you help me resolve the issue?
Because of this issue, I'm almost forced to downgrade to my Windows 7, where Bluetooth was working perfectly. I have also tried installing the old Windows 7 drivers, but again, Windows does not allow me to install the driver setup file stating there is a known compatibility issue.

Hi,

I understand that you are unable to connect any devices to your computer via Bluetooth.

Follow the methods given here.

Method 1: Run Hardware and Device Troubleshooter.

If your computer is having problems with a recently installed device or other hardware, try using the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter to fix the problem. It checks for common issues and makes sure that any new device or hardware attached to your computer was installed correctly.

Follow the steps given below:

a) Press Windows + W together.
b) Write Troubleshooting in the search box right up corner and hit enter.
c) Click on Troubleshooting tab.
d) Click on view all option on the upper left corner.
e) Select the Hardware and Device options from the list.
f) Click Next to run the Hardware and Device Troubleshooter.

Method 2:

I suggest you to install the Windows 7 driver in compatibility mode and check if it helps.

You can follow the link given below to install the driver in compatibility mode.

What is program compatibility?

Make older programs compatible with this version of Windows

Method 3:

Temporarily disable Security Software:

Disclaimer for disabling or uninstalling the Antivirus and Firewall: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you shouldn't disable your antivirus software. If you have to temporarily disable it to install other software, you should re-enable it as soon as you're done. If you're connected to the Internet or a network while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks. Turning off Windows Firewall might make your computer (and your network, if you have one) more vulnerable to damage from worms or hackers.

Results: It reported that several unknown devices were detected. I installed drivers for some. However this did not help.

Method 2:

I suggest you to install the Windows 7 driver in compatibility mode and check if it helps.

You can follow the link given below to install the driver in compatibility mode.

Results: This did not help. Windows prohibited me from installing the old drivers stating that "Broadcom bluetooth software - The program has compatibility issues"

I changed settings to run in Compatibility mode. But it strictly refused to run. The same message as above was shown

Method 3:

Temporarily disable Security Software:

I did not have antivirus software installed. I tried disabling Windows Defender, but that did not help.

Net result: I'm no closer to the solution than I was.

All that was already done. The issue does not occur with Windows XP or Windows 7.

I dont see how Fujitsu can help with this issue. This is Windows related. Specifically a Windows 8 issue, and I have seen numerous posts with very similiar issues:

The problem is disturbing to the point that I have had to uninstall Windows 8 and reinstall Windows 7.

Have you tried to unplug any other USB device ?

My profile was :
Acer with win8 64bit,
Android N7100
WDC external HDD plugged on USB

The N7100 always shown as offline.
But when I unplugged the WDC external HDD, the N7100 became available and connect easily.
I think there's a conflict between USB and bluetooth driver....

I did. Nothing helped. Finally I came to the conclusion that Windows 8 is not a mature operating system, and lacks support for a wide range of hardware. I uninstalled Windows 8, and installed Windows 7. My problems are now solved.
