I'm streaming media using WMP12 on Windows Home Premium 64-bit to an XBox. However, when I add files to the monitoring folders, I cannot see the added files on the XBox. It seems that the libraries are not automatically updating. How do I configure this?

Hello Oceanclub,
Sorry the hot fix didn't improve your issue.
Please let us know if the clean boot helps to identify if there is a conflict with any other software.

Hi,
Method 1: To resolve this problem, clear the Windows Media Player database. To do this, follow these steps:
a. Exit Windows Media Player.
b. Click Start, click Run, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Media Player, and then click OK.
c. Select all the files in the folder, and then click Delete on the File menu.
Note You do not have to delete the folders that are in this folder.
d. Restart Windows Media Player.
Note Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.
Method 2: If this does not resolve the problem, clear the Windows Media Player database cache files. To do this, follow these steps:
a. Exit Windows Media Player.
b. Click Start, click Run, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft, and then click OK.
c. Select the Media Player folder, and then click Delete on the File menu.

Ah, but I've only just rebuilt the database. Is there any other option?
I'll try again I guess.

Hello Oceanclub,
I suggest you download the following KB hotfix and see if it will help with your issue.
KB 981770 ID: You frequently experience a music library issue when you access the music library in Windows Media Center or in Windows Media Center Extender
Be sure you download the correct version, x86 for a 32 bit computer and X64 for a 64 bit computer.
Please reply back and let us know if this will help with your issue.

Hi Marilyn,
Thanks for the hotfix; I installed this. However, it's still taking an very long time to access music so I'm not sure there was any improvement.
If I browse (on the Xbox) to My XBox==>Music Library==>{source}==>Albums, I get a "Please wait" message. It will then display only 75 albums after maybe 10 seconds.
If I press B (for Back), then select Albums again, I'll get a second "Please Wait" message, then perhaps 200 albums.
If I continue this, I'll eventually get all the albums, but this isn't really acceptable I'm sure you'll agree!

P
Hi Oceanclub,

Hi there,
I tried uninstall then reinstall the network adaptor; no luck.
The "Ways to improve your computer's performance" thread doesn't help; since I run my PC as a gaming machine I'm aware of the benefits of clean disks, defragging, etc. The PC is a quad-core with 4GB of RAM, defragged, etc.
I'm still getting a problem that when I add new media to watched directories, it is simply not picked up. I never had such problems when running XP on the same machine.
I'll try the clean boot option at some point and see what happens.
