Hi,
Step 1: You can find the original WFS.exe file from the following location.
C:\windows\system32\wfs.exe
Step 2: Windows Fax and Scan may be unchecked in Turn Windows features on or off, you may want to check in programs and features.
Follow the steps :
a. Click Start
b. Click Control Panel
c. Click on Programs and features
d. Click Turn Windows features on or off
e. Check Windows fax and scan if it’s unchecked. If yes, check the box and click ok.

When I click on "New Fax" a box opens quickly, "Could Not Complete Scan." In the Tools/Scan Settings box, I got no response trying to click on the only entry there; it was for my scanner, actually a Canon all-in-one printer that's always worked until now. I decided to delete the entry and try to add it as a new proofile. But when I click on the "Add" button, a box opens, "Failed to Initialize selected scanner."
I restarted the computer and went through all the same attempts again, but with the same results.
Is there something else I can try to get the program to initialize the scanner?

Hello skipnicholson,
Run a system scan to see if there are any corrupt system files.
Click Start
Type: CMD, right click CMD
Click “Run as Administrator”
At the Command Prompt, type: sfc /scannow
This will check for any integrity violations and fix any corrupted operating system files.
Restart your system.

Hello, I just tried the above and there were no integrity problems found. However my fax and scan is still not here. Is there anything else I can try? I haven't added anything new to this computer other than a new printer.
thank you
Lynne
